Ringelberg, who signs and shows his work simply as Ringelberg, is a Dutch-Tanzanian painter living in Belgium. Working primarily in abstraction, his paintings are shaped by a tension between earthy warmth, rhythm and raw texture, and restraint, light and structural clarity.
The result is distinctive yet difficult to place: fields of burnt orange, ochre, deep red, olive and black meet gestural marks and exposed canvas texture. Each work carries a mood more than a subject. Titles such as Afterglow, Homesick and Threshold offer a point of departure, inviting the viewer to bring their own story to the surface.
Ringelberg paints at the meeting point of two heritages, and in that space he has found a voice that belongs to neither and to both.
